What are the Assessor’s duties?
Assessor duties include:
- Begin the review and appeals process for all property owners by holding local board of equalization meetings, county board of equalization meetings and appearing in tax court if necessary
- Collect all the data and characteristics necessary to make a proper and informed assessment
- Estimate the market value of each taxable parcel
- Locate and identify all taxable properties
- Notification to property owners of the value and classification of their property
- Prepare and certify the assessment of all taxable parcels in Itasca County
