How IMCare Works

How can I enroll in IMCare?

You must first apply for Medical Assistance (MA) or MinnesotaCare. You can do this through your local Health and Human Services office or online at www.MNsure.org. If you are found to be eligible for MA or MinnesotaCare and live in Itasca County, IMCare will be a health plan choice for you. You will receive a packet of information from the county office and you can enroll in IMCare at that time.

Using IMCare

IMCare has a network of providers. You will be asked to select providers from the IMCare network. In most cases, you need to use Plan providers to get your services. These providers include:
  • Primary care clinics
  • Hospitals
  • Pharmacies
  • Chiropractors
  • Dentists
  • Eye care providers
  • Mental health providers
  • Nursing home
It is important for you to use the providers you choose as a member of IMCare. These providers will help coordinate your medical care with IMCare and other health care providers so you get the best care possible.

If health care services are not available through IMCare network providers, your primary doctor may refer you to another provider. These services may require an authorization from IMCare before they will get paid. If you have an emergency out of the IMCare provider network, you need to contact your primary care doctors as soon as possible.
