In order to promote the largest applicant pool, the Administrative Services Department shall complete the following information for the purpose of the public announcement for the creation of an eligibility list per the classification listed. Public announcements shall be posted at least ten (10) days prior to the closing date, and public announcements shall be posted in the following locations: official newspaper of the County, Department of Jobs and Training, Itasca County Social Services, Itasca County Veterans Service, official personnel bulletin board in the Coordinator/Human Resources Department, Leech Lake Indian Reservation, etc., but is not limited to these locations.

RATE OF PAY: Per Local 580 Contract: $39,504.31 - $52,619.28; $18.99 - $25.30
 
CURRENT VACANCY EXISTS IN: One regular, F/T Public Health Nurse vacancy and One temporary unlimited term, F/T Public Health Nurse vacancy. All applicants looking for F/T and P/T work are encouraged to apply, as the list will be used for future vacancies.

DUTIES:

1. Monitor health status to identify community health problems.

2. Diagnose and investigate community health problems and health hazards.

3. Inform, educate and empower people about health issues.

4. Mobilize community partnerships to identify and solve health problems.

5. Develop policies/plans that support individual/community health efforts.

6. Enforce laws and regulations that protect health and ensure safety.

7. Link people to needed personal health services and assure the provision of health care when otherwise unavailable.

8. Assure a competent public health and personal health care workforce.

9. Evaluate effectiveness, accessibility and quality of personal and population based health services.

10. Research for new insights and innovative solutions to health problems.

11. Regular attendance on the job.

12. Perform others duties as required.

WORK HOURS: To be determined by Department Head.

WORK LOCATION: Health and Human Services Department, Itasca Resource Center, 1209 SE Second Avenue, Grand Rapids, MN

QUALIFICATIONS: PHN Certification in Minnesota with minimum of one (1) year related experience, (MUST ATTACH COPY OF CERTIFICATION); must have a valid drivers

license; must successfully pass a physical examination, successful completion of pre-placement screen, criminal background check and sexual exploitation background check, all contingent upon a job offer.
