Family Child Care Licensing

The State of Minnesota has rules for those who care for children.  The purpose of licensing is to protect the health, safety, and well-being of children.  Licensing standards include requirements for providers, health and safety standards for the home, guidelines for how the children in care are to be treated, as well as program and equipment requirements.  There is information on food requirements for children, appropriate activities, training for providers, and limits on the number and ages of children who may be present in a program.

For more information on becoming licensed for Family Child Care please contact Maureen Kangas at 218-327-5559 or email her at www.maureen.kangas@co.itasca.mn.us
